After 'Casino Royale' when James Bond was released to the world, Ian Fleming set to work on Live And Let Die. Live And Let Die was the second James Bond novel. This was first published by Jonathan Cape on April 5, 1954. The novel has been adapted into a film starring Roger Moore as James Bond in 1974. The novel has been largely criticized as racist due to to ways Ian Fleming describing black people. For example when James Bond enters a room in Harlem the air was thick with smoke and the sweet, feral smell of two hundred Negro bodies". The novel is certainly one of the best Fleming novels, fast paced, death, suspense. This novel is the most controversial OO7 novel from its refrences to the carribean and voodoo. Many of the key elements of the novel has been made into various James Bond EON films listed below.
Plot Sypnosis
James Bond Agent OO7 is sent to America to investigate 'Mr Big', a underworld voodoo leader who is suspected of selling 17th Century gold coins of the treasure of Bloody Morgan. The coins have been turning up in Harlem and Flordia unexpectedly. Bond soon finds that Mr. Big is a SMERSH agent, Which makes Bond more than over anticipated to take on the mission. Once in New York Bond meets up with Felix Leiter who has had a transfer from the Casino Royale case. Bond eventually meets Mr. Big where he escapes killing some of Mr. Bigs henchmen. Solitaire a physic fortune telling captive to Mr. Big contacts James Bond in need to escape. James Bond soon sees that Solitaire is a hard burden and very beautiful. Mr Big intends on revenge ....
Bond soon links Mr. Big to the smuggling of gold coins. Solitaire is soon taken back by Mr. Big and Bond's mission continues taking him to Jamacia where he meets John Strangways and Quarrel. Where he finds that many people go missing in the water at night, But this doesn't stop Bond, He tracks Mr. Big and his ship to his remote island. Where the treasure of Bloody Morgan is buried. Bond travels through the barracuda (shark) infested waters and plants a limpet mine on the Secular (Mr. Bigs boat) and is soon captured where he is reunited with Solitaire the guards unaware of the mine with eh 7 hour fuse attached to the book. Mr. Big plans for Bond and Solitaire to be towed along the reefs on a metal cord. The bomb eventually goes off just before Bond and Solitaire become close to death. Bond and Solitaire stay in Jamacia for a breif holiday before the novel ends.
Verdict
Live And Let Die is a fast paced, death filled suspense of a book. Reading this book will make you appreciate the film adoption more. Highly readable. If you enjoyed Casino Royale then you will love this.

Well Here is the review, I think I have covered all the main points. Hope you like it, Beware it contains major spoilers.

MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW !!!!
It started with the usual cliffhanger start which is later developed in the book. I really liked this book I will put it in the top 3, My favourite being Silverfin. The book showed Bond falling in love with a maid at Eton who turns out to be part of a plot to assassinate King George. But Bond then later finds this out and changes her mind out things. In the ending of the book she dies with Bond by her side. It turns out that Mr. Merriot a teacher at Eton is actually a MI6 officer. Bond has to sign a official secret documents act in the ending. The main villain in the novel is one that was a secondary villain in the first novel Silverfin, In which he ran in to a fire to save his work, Bond presumed he was killed, But he was very wrong He returns in this Novel burnt and scared and he tries to get Bond healthy skin to replace his. This book was a lot less violent than all the other, Containing a gory chapter where Bond sees a hanging corpse. The book has a mix of communism involving the Nazis and the Russians, In which there is a return of Colonel Sedova returns. Bond shots her and kills her, But this is not confirmed.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service review.
OHMSS is high action thriller that everyone should have the chance to read. This is clearly better than the previously 4 novels and is a compeling story of love , action , hate , and even more. Bond goes incognito as Sir Hilary Bary to Blofeld's hideaway in the Swiss Alps . While Bond is there he finds that there are 10 young women staying there. Blofeld's cover is that he is curing the girls allerigies . But actually he is hypmotising the girls. Blofeld is spreading dieases to animals through the girls. Blofeld is also starting a (BW) biological warfare. While Bond is undercover as Sir Hilary Bray Blofeld suspects something fishy coming on after a man from Station Z barges in on Blofeld and ( bond's ) conversation .
There was some great action scenes including; Bond's getaway down Piz Gloria 's mountain , and the bobsled chase are the most significent . The most heartbreaking moment IMO the bond series is when Bond 's only wife is shoot by SPECTRE. Overall one of the bond best novels written . Easily 10 / 10

LALD review
This novel has his moments. This bond tale has what every good bond story needs, such as a good bond girl ( Solitaire ) , good villain ( Mr. Big / Baron Samedi ) , a great mission. Bond 's mission is to discover why all these old coins showing up. They have beliefs that who is behind this is Mr. Big. And that he is also working for SMERSH . This novel can at some parts be a bit racist . Like how when the black people talk they never finish there words and such.
There are some great action scenes including: the shootout with Bond and ' The Robber ' , and the last scene where bond and Solitaire are tied to the paravane . Those are the highlights IMO. Overall the second Fleming story delivers with a great 9/10
